Sports massage – this kind of massage is becoming more popular amongst sportsmen and women. The manipulation and stretching of muscles and connective tissues in a sports massage effectively strengthen the functions of the body and it has been proven that it increases the performance of the sportsmen and women by about 20%. It does not matter what type of shape you are in, the sports massage improves your physical state and at the same time reduces the risk of injury or pain.

The purpose of the sports massage is to help relieve stress and pressure in the body, accumulated during physical activity. It helps reduce injuries and prevents the excessive stretching and load of muscles. Furthermore, sports massages increase physical performance by improving flexibility, reducing muscle pressure and removing fatigue.

Massage is considered for one of the earliest forms of manual therapy and it is known that it was used by many different cultures for more than 5000 years. Sports massage is closely related to the physical condition of athletes, sports performance and it is an important part of training. In order to get sport massage does not have to be a professional athlete. As a variety of classical massage, sports massage is tailored to the needs of professional athletes and athlete people. Sports massage uses special deep tissue technique in order to improve the physical condition of the body before training, it is an active recovery tool after exercise and  it can improve the quality of the training process. The overall aim of the massage is to prepare the trainee for heavy load, reducing tension in muscle, eliminate fatigue, discomfort or pain, improving flexibility of tendons and muscles to avoid injury or trauma. Sports massage can be divided into four main types

1)      Pre-sports massage – applied at least 30 minutes before loading or competition and aims to warm and tone the body.

2.) Restorative sports massage – most often done after a workout or during breaks in competition. Its purpose is to eliminate fatigue, restore strength in muscles and resuscitation.

3)  Training sport massage is used to achieve maximum results in minimum time for training. The massage is done from 5 to 12 hours after exercise and it depends on the training regime.

Through sports massage achieves better results in sports, rapid recovery of muscles and vital functions of the body, reducing the occurrence of injuries and remove accumulated body fatigue.
